My second attempts.
I started writing out this long post on thanksgiving. It was pretty cynical. I have never been a big thanksgiving fan. As I started to think about it, my cynicism was born out of my lack of being truly thankful.
This year has been a pretty rough one for many people. We have seen the deaths of many celebs, the tragic passing of a young pastor, people losing their jobs, and continuing wars and turmoil. But for me, on a local level, this year has been monumental. We bought our first home, are gearing up for another baby, we paid off several student loans, and I was able to keep my job thanks to voters passing our district levy. To top it off, we are planting a church.
I am humbled by my own stupidity.
God has shown me I have many reasons to be thankful. My life is not as bad as many others. I have been blessed beyond belief and in spite of the fact I do not deserve it.Time and time again I act like a self-centered toddler. I whine and cry to get what I want while ignoring the things I need. This year things have been slapped with some perspective shifts. I understand I have a lot to be thankful for. All of it I credit to God’s glory.
