Wow, Don. I felt really cared for in this post.

You would do well to make this into a sermon, or a preface to your eBook on how "A Beginner's Guide to Making Disciples".

"What are you doing? Who are you investing in and training? Who are you working with?"

Oh how dangerous a question this is! I pray that my answer is not seen as "tooting my own horn," but understood to be all to the glory of the One who has given me these tasks:

Besides the service of motherhood that God brought me in to seven years ago, and which I am trying to do to the glory of God, I have been volunteering with our church's Youth Group for almost three years. I work with a wonderful group of people who have weathered our church's nasty split with me and who sharpen the iron of my face even as I sharpen theirs. When the day comes for me to stand in the Court of the Lord I know I will be giving a wonderful account of their godly support and friendship.

"What are you learning and from who?"

I am learning patience and selflessness from the couple we took in, who are now planning to move to New Mexico in search of better jobs. They have been both a joy and a test of my faith in Christ. I can't say I've been completely and totally successful; but in my failures God has illuminated the "gaps" in my armor. And He has also thrown into sharp detail the areas where He has been at work in refining me, as well. It's been one of the most powerful lessons I've experienced by someone not related to me by birth or marriage.

I am learning discernment from the tangled mess that is my church. It's amazing what a small handful of wolves can do to a flock of sheep. There are days when the spiritual battle being waged in that building is so tangible, the air feels like it's made of pure electricity. I can honestly say that, for the first time in my walk with Christ, I have caught a glimpse of the front lines. What I see is terrifying and awesome, both in the King James sense of the word. At times I am surrounded by people whose fruitage has turned so rotten, I want to flee the premises--and I know that the only thing I can do is not to run but to humbly hold up the banner of Zion...or cling desperately to it.

Then there's hanging with y'all, of course! :-)

Love this post and so true.

I am burdend with this in my church as well. And by burden I mean impressed on my heart by God wich stirs me into action. :)
I am starting a group I call "roots" it will be centered on 2 Tim 2:2 but applied in a community format. Where men gather and sharpen each other in relationship not just teaching. I'm super stoked about God working through this. How could He not be glorified by men gathering and spurring one another as we grow together in brotherly affection? :) Its a no brained really.. But something we are being delibrite with.

Thanks again for the post bro.

Peace!

I think I'm a little confused. Are you creating the courses, or are you finding courses on the net and collaborating them into a syllabus. Help a brotha unda-stand!

Was there literally an Adam and an Eve?
If so, how long ago was this and were there cavemen before Adam and Eve?

Yes, as long as they are not trolls...which... I dont think you can be on wave.
While part of this is about learning more for myself, I am hoping to make this something anyone can learn from. Justin Camblin (a friend of mine through the interwebs) thought it would be a good idea to post our papers and projects. I think that will be a great idea. I really hope we build a good repository for OT studies.
I may even use message boards and other ways of interaction. I hope that I can even convince you to participate on some level.

I'd love to participate at some level, but I wasn't sure if it was "all or nothing".

Plus it will be great if you can pull off a productive wave
