Hey everyone, you will notice over on the sidebar, there is a poll about halfway down. I would appreciate it if you would take 30 seconds to leave your votes. It would really help me going forward.
You can pick up to three (3) out of the six options.
Have another suggestion? Leave it in the comments. Thanks

Hey Don, thanks for the email sir.
The stuff I voted for is basically like: "GIVE ME MORE CONTENT"
But more importantly, I don't want you to get burned out doing this. Looking forward to learning from you.
I actually have felt like I could blast out some content really quickly. I have just been sticking to the "one a day" so I dont overwhelm. But hey, this format might demand more.
Thanks for your insight, and I will try not to get burned out. My wife wont let me.
I went with longer AND shorter articles. I guess I think there's space for both and time where each would be helpful. I'm looking forward to seeing all this come together.
Chris,
That makes a lot of sense. It is an interesting way to think about it. Need some content for those "in a hurry" and some for others who have the time on their hands.
Thanks for the well wishes.

I agree with Chris, I enjoy short articles for when I want some quick goodness. I enjoy longer articles because honestly the stuff that's worth writing about can't be given proper intellectual treatment in short article format.
The community one, because I think that is the strongest aspect of the site and you should play to your strengths. It would be pretty cool to have a message board or something to allow us to going into conversations a little more in depth. For every song they post, OC ReMix creates a discussion thread and links to it on the song page (they actually show a preview of the thread like blog comments). Maybe you could do something similar with your articles.
Shorter articles, not because I think the long articles are bad, but because I find I have a much easier time convincing myself to sit down and read if I know it's only going to take a moment.
I honestly thought the shorter articles would be number 1. Chris Tomlinson gave a good defense for both. I am thinking I will need to do both, but maybe feature a few more shorter ones.
The community seems to be a big aspect too. I have some boards set up, maybe I can release them to the masses soon….
As always, thanks for your good insight. You are the interwebs.
Jakob Nielson defends both long and short…ads a nice rythym to posts…and some subjects you just can't keep below 500 words.
Shorter is under 500 right? That's what you guys mean when you say short? 300-500 is a usability/SEO rule of thumb [anything less than 300 and crawlers will scratch their heads a make guess]…
I also voted for "study guides" which I'm assuming you mean printable. I like printable. I like community, too. That's big. Content, whether video or copy is a given.
Let me explain: I can sit down and read for five/ten minutes and that’s fine. Or I can scan a couple of lines in 30 seconds, that’s also great. I generally don’t read the mid-sized ones because I’m not ‘reading something’ and yet it’s too long to scan. I like it when blogs have a good mix of the two, short snappy thought-provoking stuff mixed with fairly lengthy explanatory stuff. Or maybe it’s just me…
What I am hearing is people do seem to like both long and short. Seems like a good mix is in need. Honestly, unless I frequent a blog, I don't like to read really long articles. So I completely understand. Thanks again for the vote. I appreciate it.

that's good! I've really had to scale back what I do w/ blogging, just isn't time ya know?
I agree, at times.
It can be a rough world every now and again. It can be demanding, especially as a student.

I voted shorter articles and better community.

That is interesting. I have often set my sites on 700. I guess 500 would make more sense for short. Thanks for the insight.

Yes sir. All printable, all the time.
Community seems to be very important to you kids these days. I will have to get those forums up to par soon.
Both longer and shorter posts…

Love the blog,
Tim.
Thanks for the kind words, Tim.
