Sometimes it just takes a large group.
Since our church is currently meeting on Wednesday nights (come join us!), my wife and I are free
to check out churches on Sunday morning. This helps us to get a profile of the habits of Christians in Middletown, Ohio. Let me give you a quick back story.
Back Story
When Jill and I moved to Middletown, we had only been to one church in the region. We had not met any Christians in Middletown except the pastor and his wife (and a few others who went to their church). They are a great, Gospel centered church. But they were the only Christians we have met in the last three months. It seemed to us that Middletown was abandoned by the Gospel. We felt like no one cared about our city except one small church. We have spent time praying for the growth of Christians in Middletown who want to spread the Gospel and link arms with each other to do so.
Fast Forward to yesterday…which involves a little rewind
We attended Beracha Baptist Church (beracha means blessing in Hebrew, not a funky spelling for Obama). While it was not the type of church we are looking to plant, we must say, it was a good church. The pastor was very friendly and down to earth. Everyone we ran into was friendly. The best part? They loved Jesus. They loved Him and wanted everyone to know about Him. The pastor proclaimed the Gospel every chance he could. They wanted desperately to reach little kids with the Gospel with their VBS program. They want to reach the poor, the rich, the young, the old, everyone.
Seeing the 300 or so in the room gave us hope and motivation
There are Christians in Middletown who love their city and want to reach it for Christ. They are active, alive, and full of love. I am excited to know there are Christians who want to change their city (besides us). Knowing we have two churches that are alive and active really gives one hope.
We cannot wait to become the third, active church in our city.

Sounds exciting!

haha, so that’s why you wanted my to reply…
“I am excited to know there are Christians who want to change their city (besides us).”
We need more of that in Toledo. At church on Sunday (we went to Kurt’s parents church), there were so many people SLEEPING during the service. Kurt’s dad included. I think most of the congregation is just there because they think they “have ” to be.
I have a feeling Toledo and Middletown have a lot in common actually.
Multi site?
Huh?

I like the sound of that.
Here is a blog I read, the man is a Pastor of a church in TN. His blogs inspire me! I wish there was a church like this closer. http://withoutwax.tv
Oops.. somehow that posted twice…
I fixed it. You should sign up for intense debate! The comments are better that way!
